Shampoo Bar – Lilly Pilly & Lemongrass

About some of the ingredients used:

Argan oil (organic) (Argania Spinsosa) – comes from the argan tree, which grows almost exclusively in southwest Morocco. Traditionally, Moroccans used argan oil to treat everything from eczema and psoriasis to wrinkles and hair loss. Argan seeds are full of monounsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants. They have more vitamin E than olive oil which contributes to making skin feel soft and supple. Due to it’s high level of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamin E, argan oil helps to hydrate and soften hair.

Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride – Guar Conditioner or Guar Silk is  a water soluble, naturally derived cationic polymer derived from guar gum and provides conditioning to the skin and hair leaving a soft, silky feel and helps to keep hair smooth, soft and shiny.

Silc-oliv (Hydrogenated Ethylhexyl Olivate (and) Hydrogenated Olive Oil Unsaponifiables) is a natural, vegetable substitute for silicone, suitable for use in natural products which adds a satin effect without the buildup that comes from using silicon. It is based on renewable sources, Silc-Oliv is an Olive emollient which does not contain additives or preservatives.

Sodium lactate is a sodium salt of natural-lactic acid, which is produced by fermentation of sugar derived from corn syrup, using non-genetically modified product. It  is found in the epidermis of the skin and is a naturally occurring humectant for use as a moisturiser. It provides increased moisturising when used in skin care and hair care products.

Rice Bran Protein (Oryza Sativa) – Proteins are excellent conditioning agents for shampoos and conditioners. Rice protein is said to work well in shampoos designed to increase hair volume and add shine to the hair, making it more resilient. They have film-forming properties which help protect the hair cuticles and they make hair feel soft and hydrated. The hydrolysis means that the protein is broken down into smaller molecules so they can penetrate the cuticle.

Panthenol: is an active ingredient that can improve the appearance of hair, skin and nails. When used in hair care, it acts as a long-lasting moisturiser that can thicken the hair and prevent damage, while simultaneously improving sheen and lustre. Beneficial to the skin, it can act as a deeply penetrating moisturiser with added anti-inflammatory benefits. When used in nail care it improves hydration and imparts flexibility.

Lauryl/Myristyl Polyrinicinoleate & Glycerin: Made from 100% Natural plant derived materials, this hair moisturiser faces the challenge of damaged and dry hair, and in Australia, helps moisturise weather affected hair. Its primary ingredients are RSPO Palm Kernel Oil and Castor Oil as well as Rapeseed (canola) and biodegrades within 10 days and is Cosmos and EcoTain™ approved.It is a great alternative to silicone and replacement for conditioning ingredients in shampoo.

Strawberry Powder: contains Vitamin C, Folate, Anthocyanins, Flavonols and condensed tannins. Folates are helpful in skin rejuvenation and can reduce the signs of skin ageing.  Folic acid is also really important for scalp health and can improve hair strength and follicle vitality. Strawberry extract is ideally suited to hair products due to its high folic acid concentration which boosts hair strength. 

Pink Australian Clay: contains essential minerals to help replenish and regenerate the epidermis of the skin to create softened and conditioned skin with a healthy glow. In haircare it aids in removing grime and some excess oil, but not over-stripping the scalp or hair. It is a rich source of silica which works in absorbing impurities and toxins which may be responsible for your hair damage and helps in restoring moisture and balance of your hair and scalp and smoothing the hair’s texture.

Lilly Pilly extract – is an Australian small, rainforest native tree from the Myrtaceae family that grows all along the coastline of NSW.  It is a good skin purifier with antioxidant properties and is also a good source of folate, manganese and calcium as well as a range of antioxidant phytochemicals.

Lemongrass essential oil: is known to strengthen hair follicles which helps fight hair loss. A rich source of iron, it is an effective dandruff treatment, with one 2015 study finding that it significantly reduced dandruff after one week. It also has antibacterial properties and deep cleanses the scalp and aids to remove accumulation of pollutants or dirt in the hair follicles.

Spearmint essential oil: is naturally anti-fungal and antibacterial in nature, making it an effective treatment for some scalp conditions including dandruff. The cooling menthol also makes it an excellent remedy for itching and dryness. 

Bergamot essential oil: is rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants and antimicrobials that help shield the hair and scalp against the damaging effects of oxidative stress. The antioxidants also strip off the dirt and chemicals that are causing the hair to dry out, revealing healthier, shiny hair.

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) and other surfactants used. Isethionates (the family to which SCI belongs) are considered to be exceptionally mild for skin and hair. They are coconut derived, made from natural, renewable coconut oil and biodegradable. All other surfactants used are vegetable derived and Ecocert approved. Sodium Lauroamphoacetate is a very mild surfactant that is often used to reduce the irritation potential of other surfactants. It is a natural, plant based surfactant.
